PELLA — Mack Sims and Macy Lampe finished 1-2 in the 100-meter hurdles, the Cardinals grabbed four third-place finishes and the Newton girls track and field team was third at the Tulip Time Relays thanks to a boatload of top-five tallies.

Pella won the meet championship with 185 points and Mount Pleasant (144.5) also reached triple-figures in second, but the Cardinals scored 92 points in third.

“I’m proud of the team for continuing to step up and persevere through the crazy wind,” Newton girls head track and field coach Rachelle Tipton said. “It may not always lead to the times or distances desired, but they don’t back down from the competition.”
