When the Newton Municipal Band presents its final concert of the season on Thursday, July 3, community members will have the opportunity to jumpstart their Fourth of July weekend. The band, under the direction of Jim Beerends, will begin its salute to our country at 7 p.m., with the playing of our national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.” The evening will consist of a variety of patriotic pieces, with narration by Master of Ceremonies Fred Chabot. Expect a high-energy concert that is intended to express the pride we share in our nation.
Bring blankets, lawn chairs, friends and neighbors to enjoy this celebratory concert. Look for food trucks at the top of the hill, for your dining and snacking pleasure, as you tap your toes to the music. You are sure to leave with a song in your heart.
The band appreciates directors Jim and Dan, MC Fred, and all the players and audience members, as well as those who function behind the scenes. It is truly a “community band.”
