COLFAX — Grace Allen and Victoria Woods grabbed six rebounds apiece, but the Colfax-Mingo girls’ basketball team turned the ball over 42 times and dropped its opener to HLV on Tuesday.
Four Warriors reached double-digits and HLV swiped 30 steals during its 72-7 road win in South Iowa Cedar League play.
HLV led 22-2 after one quarter and outscored the Tigerhawks 12-1 in the second. The Warriors won the third 24-4 and shut out C-M in the fourth 14-0.
Katelyn Steenhoek had two points and three rebounds for the Tigerhawks, who fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Dakota Allen and Mallory Sipma both had two points and two rebounds in the loss.
The Tigerhawks were 2-of-19 from the floor and 3-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Ayla Hall led HLV (2-0, 2-0 in the SICL) with 15 points, 11 steals and seven assists, while Kadynce DeMeulenare added 14 points and six rebounds. Aaliyah Cooper chipped in 14 points and Addy Shaull put in 13 points.
