Natalee Freese registered 10 saves in her 80 minutes as goalie, but Ballard scored the match’s lone goal in the second half during the Bombers’ 1-0 road win over the Newton girls’ soccer team at H.A. Lynn Stadium on Thursday.
The Cardinals took 10 shots in the non-conference loss and dropped to 1-2-1 on the season. It was Newton’s second 1-0 loss this spring.
Statistics for Ballard were not available at press time. The Bombers improved to 1-2 and the goal against Newton was their first of the season.

MONROE — Chariton scored five goals in the first half and then coasted past PCM during a 7-1 non-conference road win on Thursday.
It was the season opener for the Chargers, while the Mustangs dropped their second straight and fell to 1-2.
