Indianola downs NCMP boys in Cardinals’ home opener

Eekhoff, Comer lead Cardinals against Indians

The Newton-Colfax-Mingo-Pella boys swim team recorded a pair of runner-up finishes and was third in three other events on Tuesday during the home opener against Indianola.

The Indians downed the Cardinals 133-35 after claiming a win in every race and a 1-2 finish in most of the events.

NCMP’s runner-up finishes came from Eli Eekhoff in the 100-meter freestyle and Brady Comer in the 100 breaststroke.

Eekhoff finished his 100 freestyle in 1 minute, 2.28 seconds and Comer hit the finish line in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.85.

Jonah Brown finished third in the 200 individual medley in 2:56.53 and Drew Fuller was third in the 400 freestyle with a time of 5:40.05.

The Cardinals also were third in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Clay Lamb, Mack Copeland, Fuller and Eekhoff finished in 4:35.08.
