Jane Rosemary Morrison, 96, of Newton died on Monday, May 13, 2024, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A celebration of life service for Jane will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 13, in the Garden Room at Park Centre. The family will greet friends after the service. Memorials to the Salvation Army, Jasper County Historical Society, Grinnell Methodist Church, or the Trinity Las Americas Methodist Church in Des Moines may be left at Park Centre the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Jane, was born on August 6, 1927 in Washington, Iowa to Loyd and Edna (Bacon) Morrison. She graduated from Grinnell High School and then attended Grinnell College. Jane worked for the Maytag Company in various departments, retiring in 1989.
Jane was active in her community and held memberships at Grinnell Methodist Church, Jasper County Historical Society, Lynnville Historical Society, Friend of Prairie Learning Center, Friends of the Newton Public Library, Arts Connection, Citizens Police Academy, Grinnell Alumni Association, Community Theater Box Office, Lady Elks, Red Hat Society, Master Gardner, Newton Library Home Bound Reader Program, MercyOne Newton Auxiliary, and the American Business Women Association. She also served on the boards of Project Awake and the Jasper County Concert Association. In addition to all of her activities, Jane also enjoyed traveling, going on walks, reading, gardening, and bowling. She also loved all sports.
Jane is survived by her nephew, John L Morrison; niece, Ann M. Tomica; great-nieces, Laura Seibel and Emily Tomica; great-nephews, Adrian Morrison and Andrew Morrison; great-great-nieces, Skye Morrison, Nell Morrison, and Alma Morrison; and great-great-nephews, Ben Seibel and Leo Seibel. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James.
