Dorothy Louise (Illingworth) Clement, 93, of Newton died on Thursday, February 10, 2022, MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 17, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials in Dorothy’s name (checks made to Rick or JoAnn) may be left at the funeral home.

Dorothy, the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Grote) Illingworth, was born on February 10, 1929 in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1948. Dorothy was united in marriage with Robert D. Clement in September of 1948. She worked for the newspaper, Thomberts, and later retired from the Vernon Company. She also enjoyed farming, gardening, and bird watching. Dorothy was a wonderful cook and spent countless hours volunteering at the Skiff Hospital gift shop and the Jasper County Museum.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Rick Clement of Newton and JoAnn Van Eck of Pleasantville; her grandchildren, Ashley Clement, Brian (Dana) Bucklin, and Dave Bucklin, all of Newton; Joshua (Angie) Van Eck of Knoxville, Johnathan Van Eck of Monroe, Jeremy Van Eck of Pleasantville, and Jacob Van Eck of Pleasantville; and Tammy (Jeffrey) McElroy, Robert Porter, and Kara Clark, all of Colfax; her five great-grandchildren and one more on the way; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Clement; daughter, Pamela Porter; her son-in-law, Johnnie Van Eck; and 8 siblings, Florence, Wilma, Elsie, Frances, Ella, Frank, Bennie, and Dale.
