April Mystery Bag

Wondering what to read next? Check out our FREE monthly mystery bags for adults. Mystery bags have a different theme every month and contain a surprise selection of 4-5 books and an adult craft. Return the library books when you’re done with them - keep the craft. The April theme is “Noteworthy Nonfiction” and includes a selection of our favorite nonfiction titles from a wide variety of subjects. The craft is a set of spring bunny blocks. Registration opens March 25. Call the library at 641-792-4108 to register. Ages 18+

Introvert Book Club

Want to join a book club but just don’t have the time for a regular meeting? This is the book club for you. Each month there’s a new book selection, but there’s never a meeting. Copies of the book are available at the Information desk. The April book selection is “The Marlow Murder Club” by Robert Thorogood.

Gory Stories Book Club

Tuesday, April 2, noon

Do you love true crime? Join our monthly Gory Stories Book Club! Bring your lunch and join other true crime addicts to discuss a new book each month and share our favorite books, podcasts, & documentaries. Copies of the book can be picked up at the library information desk. The April book selection is “A Serial Killer’s Daughter” by Kerri Rawson.

Spring Book Swap

Monday, April 8, 5 – 6:30 p.m.

Clean out your bookshelves and pick up some new-to-you books at our Spring Book Swap. Drop off your gently used books at the Library April 1 - 6 and pick up a book swap ticket for each book you bring in. Bring your tickets back on April 8 between 5 and 6:30 p.m. to pick out new books from the swap to take home. Books should be in good condition, clean, and gently used. All covers and pages must be intact and should have minimal markings. We cannot accept books with mold, animal or water damage. Questions? Contact Becca Klein at 641-792-4108.

Spring Book Sale

Early Access Night: April 9, 5 – 7 p.m.

Book Sale: April 10 & 11, 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Pick up some great books while supporting your library. Cash and personal check will be accepted. A $10 donation gets you early access to the sale on April 9, from 5 - 7 p.m. There is no entry fee on April 10 & 11. Proceeds from the sale go towards funding library programs for all ages. We appreciate your support.

Blues Under the Blue Roof

Thursday, April 18, 5 p.m.

The Blue 2 with Bob Dorr and Jeff Petersen performs at Blues Under the Blue Roof! Check out a new live blues music performance every month, February - May. This event is held in the library meeting room and is free to attend. All ages welcome. This concert series is made possible by the South Skunk Blues Society, The Arts Connection, and the Newton Public Library Foundation.
