Newton is a meeting town in 2023 RAGBRAI route

Colfax, Kellogg included as other pass thru towns in Jasper County

Three communities in Jasper County will be pass thru towns — with one being a meeting town — for the 50th RAGBRAI ride in late July.

Colfax, Newton and Kellogg are among the six pass thru towns on Day 5 of the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, with the others being Altoona, Mitchellville and Grinnell. Newton will serve as a meeting town for the 82-mile stretch. The full route was announced by RAGBRAI organizers on March 13.

RAGBRAI’s 50th ride will be July 22-29 and covers 30 communities. This year’s pass thru towns are a mixture of small and large communities that have hosted riders successfully over the past 50 years, organizers said in the announcement. Newton previously served as an overnight stop for RAGBRAI in 2018.
