Newton Police Department

• David R. Neasham, 55, of Newton, was charged with third degree harassment at 5:45 p.m. May 5 in the 300 block of East 13th Street North. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a call for a male shouting at his neighbors. The reporting party, which is also the victim, said Neasham was screaming and threatening her. Neasham was shouting various profanities. Officers attempted to make contact with Neasham and he refused to come to the door. Officers saw Neasham run back inside his home and shut the door. The reporting party called back and stated that Neasham was back outside on his front porch. Officers saw Neasham yelling at the victim across the street for the third time. Neasham was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Alan L. Dahlman, 56, of Newton, was charged with domestic abuse at 12:45 a.m. May 4 in the 300 block of East 16th Street North. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a call for a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke with someone who lives with Dahlman. The victim said Dahlman had been drinking all day and stated Dahlman slapped her arms down while she was trying to defend herself while he chased her around the kitchen table swinging at the victim. The neighbors said they could hear the victim screaming "help" several times. Multiple neighbors ran over banging on the residents door. Dahlman was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
