• Antioneo D.E. Rucker, 28, of Grinnell, was charged with domestic abuse from an incident that occurred at 5:37 p.m. Feb. 24 in the 1800 block of West Fourth Street North. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a call for domestic assault. Officers arrived and made contact with the victim who said she and Rucker had been arguing over a text message when Rucker punched her in the left side of the face. The victim said Rucker also spat in her face and attempted to strike her again when she was trying to get him out of her apartment. Officers saw redness on the left side of the victim’s face behind her left eye and observed an open wound on her right hand with visible blood. Officers spoke with witnesses who confirmed Rucker attempted to strike the victim while in the hallway and spat on the victim before fleeing from the property. A warrant was issued for Rucker. Rucker was picked up on the warrant for the charge at 12:15 pm March 19 at in the 1800 block of West Fourth Street North and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
