MercyOne Newton Medical Center will be hosting a lunch and learn from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 20. The program entitled “Heart Screenings: Early Intervention & Prevention,” will be presented by Dr. Joseph Cookman, an interventional cardiologist with Iowa Heart Center — Newton. The session will help teach about heart screens, which are accessible and affordable and can make a long-term difference in your life. Early identification of severe conditions allows you and your doctor to make changes now and reduce or prevent problems later. Dietitian Deb Nilles and nurses from MercyOne Newton Cardiac Rehab will also be on hand to answer questions.
The event is free and an optional sack lunch is available for $5.
Registration is required by Feb. 14. To RSVP, contact 641-791-4804 or employeehealth@skiffmed.com, and indicate if you would like to reserve a lunch. Walk-ins will be accepted, but sack lunch availability is limited.
