C-M fifth, Baxter sixth at Lady Bolts Relays

BAXTER — Both Colfax-Mingo and Baxter each claimed one win and two runner-up finishes at the annual Lady Bolts Relays on Thursday night.

On a cold and windy night, Baxter’s Lauren Ratliff won the 1,500-meter run on her Senior Night and Colfax-Mingo’s distance medley relay team also collected a gold medal.

The Tigerhawks and Bolts finished in the middle of the standings as Colfax-Mingo took fourth with 64.5 points and Baxter finished fifth with 49 points.

West Marshall (134.75) edged Collins-Maxwell (133.75) by a single point in the final standings and Madrid (109) was third in the eight-team field.

Colfax-Mingo’s distance medley relay team included Jordan Atwood, Colbee Cunningham, Riley Carroll and Abbey McConeghey and their winning time was 4 minutes, 57.97 seconds.

The Tigerhawks’ two runner-up finishes came from Jordan Atwood win the long jump (14 feet, 3 3/4 inches) and Braedynn Rawlins in the shot put (35-4 1/2).

Baxter’s Ratliff won the 1,500 (5:37.27) and was second in the 3,000 (12:02.93). The Bolts’ other runner-up finish came from Amber Weltha in the discus (103-3).

Baxter’s girls go to Des Moines Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday in Urbandale. Colfax-Mingo competes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday in Le Grand.
