Exhibitors from across the Midwest brought their finest birds to the Poultry Show judged Aug. 12 at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.
Karly Spear, of Newton, was named Champion in the Feather Legged Bantams show. She also received the Best Display award.
Also in the Feather Legged Bantams division, she took the first place ribbon in the Brahmas Buff Cock category; first and second in Brahmas Buff Hen and Brahmas Buff Cockerel; and first, second and third place in the Brahmas Buff Pullet.
In the Miscellaneous division, Spear was named Champion Bantam of Show and received second place in the Overall Display - Bantams category.
In RCCL Bantams, Spear was named Reserve Champion. She earned a first place ribbon for Wyandottes Partridge Cock; second place for Wyandottes Partridge Hen; third place for Wyandottes Partridge Cockerel; and first and third place in Wyandottes Partridge Pullet.
In SCCL Other than Game division, Spear earned third place in the Rhode Island Red Cock category and second place in Rhode Island Red Hen.
In the AOV SCCL Cock division, Spear was awarded Best Display honors.
