NORTH ENGLISH — The Lynnville-Sully boys basketball team continued its dominance of English Valleys after dominating on the glass on Dec. 19.
The Hawks went into the holiday break undefeated after downing the Bears 65-44 on the road during South Iowa Cedar League play.

Dawson James scored 19 points, Cameyon James grabbed 10 rebounds and the Hawks won the game by 21 points despite making only 3-of-17 from 3-point range.
“We played a little inconsistent in the first half,” Lynnville-Sully head boys basketball coach Nick Harthoorn said. “After halftime, we settled down and played more like we are capable of playing. We started making the extra pass that resulted in some quality looks at the basket. The guys also did a nice job of crashing the offensive boards.”
Lynnville-Sully out-rebounded the Bears 47-22 and 23 of those boards came at offensive end of the floor.
The Hawks improved to 27-0 against English Valleys since 2006. It was Lynnville-Sully’s fifth victory of at least 20 points this season.

Dawson James led the Hawks (7-0, 7-0 in the SICL) with 19 points and eight rebounds. He was 7-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Sawyer Veldhuizen totaled 12 points, two rebounds, four assists and three steals, Connor Deal posted seven points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals and Jack Bowlin contributed four points, eight boards and three steals.
Will Van Vark had eight points, three rebounds and three assists and Cameyon James put in five points and grabbed 10 rebounds with half coming on the offensive end.
Trace Carlson finished with four points and three rebounds, Michael Spooner scored four points and Karson Van Maanen dished out two assists and swiped two steals.

The Hawks shot 35.3 percent from the floor and made 14-of-22 from the foul line. They committed 13 turnovers.
Christian Tripses scored 15 points for the Bears and Everett Bender totaled 10 points and five assists.
English Valleys (5-2, 4-2) shot 38.6 percent from the floor, made 5-of-17 from 3 and connected on 5-of-10 from the foul line. The Bears turned the ball over 17 times.
