NEVADA — The PCM boys basketball team was right where it wanted to be after one quarter against Class 3A No. 8 Nevada on Friday.
But the Cubs took control in the second and exploded in the third during a 54-37 home win.

The Mustangs lost the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference game after being outscored 11-4 in the second and 21-7 in the third. PCM trailed by one after one and outscored the Cubs 15-10 in the fourth.
Nevada is 18-14 against PCM since 2009 and has won 13 straight games in the series.
Chase Wagaman led the Mustangs (5-3, 5-2 in the HOIAC) with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Kevin Thomas posted eight points, three rebounds and three assists, Abe Kiernan chipped in seven points, four rebounds and two blocks and Alex Wendt totaled three points and five rebounds off the bench.

Shay Burns tallied three points and two rebounds and Coby DeRaad put in three points off the bench. Joe Shaver grabbed three boards.
PCM shot 37.5 percent from the floor, made 4-of-10 from 3-point range and connected on 9-of-14 from the free-throw line. The Mustangs turned the ball over 22 times.
George Nelson led the Cubs (5-0, 4-0) with 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals and John Nelson chipped in 18 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three blocks.
Drake Hinson tallied 14 points, six rebounds and five assists and the Cubs made 8-of-29 from 3 and turned the ball over 12 times.
