Short-handed Tigerhawks can’t find win column at Pleasantville dual tournament

Fitch, Dybevik finish 5-0 in weekend tournament

PLEASANTVILLE — The Colfax-Mingo boys wrestling team filled six of the 14 weight classes at the Pleasantville dual tournament on Saturday.

The Tigerhawks were .500 in contested matches but too many forfeits doomed the win column and C-M returned home without a victory.

Cason Fitch and Class 1A No. 4 Teagan Dybevik both finished 5-0 for the day but an 28-8 disadvantage in forfeits plagued the Tigerhawks.

Colfax-Mingo tied West Central Valley on the scoreboard, but the Wildcats had a 4-3 advantage in forfeits and won the dual 31-30 in criteria.

Host Pleasantville defeated Colfax-Mingo 42-29, Panorama downed the Tigerhawks 48-24, Bondurant-Farrar scored a 40-24 victory over C-M and Albia controlled the Tigerhawks 67-12.

The Tigerhawks were 2-1 in contested matches against West Central Valley. Fitch (126) pinned his opponent in 1 minute, 3 seconds and Dybevik (285) scored a win by pin in 28 seconds. Logan Roam (113), Kyle Wood (165) and Nathan Endersbe (215) all took forfeits.

Agains the Trojans, C-M was 4-1 in contested matches, but Pleasantville took five more forfeits.

Fitch won 15-0, Dybevik pinned his opponent in 23 seconds and Wood and Endersbe also won by fall. Roam took C-M’s only forfeit at 113.

Colfax-Mingo and Panorama split their four contested matches but the Panthers had a 6-2 advantage in forfeits. Fitch and Wood won by fall and Dybevik and Xavier Cross (190) accepted forfeits.

Colfax-Mingo was 2-3 in contested matches against Bondurant-Farrar. There were four double forfeits, but the Bluejays had a 4-1 surplus in forfeits.

Fitch and Dybevik won by fall and Roam took the team’s only forfeit at 113.

Albia was 4-1 in contested matches against C-M and the Blue Demons took eight of the nine forfeits. Fitch pinned his opponent in 38 seconds and Dybevik took a forfeit.

Fitch (14-2) was 5-0 with four pins. He now has 125 career victories. Dybevik (13-2) was 5-0 with three pins, Roam was 3-2 with three forfeits and Wood was 3-2 with two pins.

C-M suffers close losses to pair of SICL foes

SIGOURNEY — Roam and Bennie Lind took two forfeits and Fitch and Dybevik both lost to state-ranked wrestlers during a road quadrangular on Tuesday.

The Tigerhawks suffered narrow losses to English Valleys and Sigourney/Keota and couldn’t keep up with Lisbon, which is ranked seventh in the 1A tournament rankings.

Colfax-Mingo was 4-11 in contested matches for the night and suffered a 14-8 disadvantage in forfeits. There were seven double forfeits, too.

In the 36-30 loss to English Valleys, Fitch and Dybevik won by fall and Roam, Wood and Lind (165) accepted forfeits.

The Tigerhawks were 2-3 in contested matches and each team took three forfeits.

Sigourney/Keota edged the Tigerhawks 33-30 after winning three of the four contested matches. C-M kept it close in part because it had a 4-3 advantage in forfeit wins.

Endersbe (215) won his match by fall in the first period, and Roam (113), Fitch (126), Jesse Fitzgerald (175) and Cross (190) took forfeits.

Dybevik lost 2-0 to 1A No. 5 Owen Menke.

Lisbon defeated the Tigerhawks 57-12 after winning five of the six contested matches and taking six of the seven forfeits.

Dybevik won his match by fall in the first period and Lind took a forfeit. Fitch lost his match 9-3 to 1A No. 8 Cade Happel of Lisbon. The Lions’ roster includes five ranked wrestlers.
