Baxter girls cruise past conference rivals BCLUW, Collins-Maxwell

Bolts push previously-ranked Blue Devils to overtime

BAXTER — Kamdyn Krampe put in 22 points, Emileigh Beals had a double-double with steals and the Baxter girls basketball team routed BCLUW on Thursday.

The Bolts delivered their largest margin of victory since the two teams started playing in 2017 as they held the Comets to single digits in all four quarters during a 59-18 win in Iowa Star Conference South Division play.

Kamdyn Krampe

Baxter led 16-4 after one quarter, outscored the Comets 19-1 in the second and won the third 15-4. Both teams scored nine points in the fourth.

Krampe posted 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals and Beals chipped in 16 points, a career-best 11 steals and three assists to lead the Bolts.

Olivia Parrie totaled eight points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks, Kaylyn Krampe contributed four points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals and Avery Wonders grabbed four rebounds.

Myah Johnston led the reserves with three points and three rebounds. Grace Warden scored the first points (2) and grabbed the first rebounds (3) of her varsity career, Gia Dart pulled down the first two boards of her varsity career and Brylea Nicholson had two rebounds off the bench. Reserve Taylor Cross scored the first three points of her varsity career.

The Bolts (4-4, 4-1 in the conference) won in a rout despite shooting only 27.4 percent from the floor. They made 7-of-36 from 3-point range, connected on 12-of-19 from the free-throw line and turned the ball over 10 times. Baxter swiped 22 steals.

BCLUW (1-5, 1-4) leads the series 8-4 since 2017, but the margin of victory for Baxter was its largest during that time.

Baxter 69, Collins-Maxwell 15

BAXTER — The Bolts held their biggest rival to single digits in all four quarters during a 69-15 home win over Collins-Maxwell on Friday.

Baxter posted its third straight win over the Spartans and the 54-point victory was the largest margin against Collins-Maxwell since the two teams started playing in 2017.

The Bolts led 20-2 after one, 42-2 after two and 62-6 after three. Collins-Maxwell won the fourth 9-7.

Kaylyn Krampe

Beals scored a career-best 25 points and added two rebounds, four assists and seven steals. She was 3-of-6 from 3.

Kamdyn Krampe registered a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double and chipped in a career-best seven assists and three steals.

Parrie pitched in 15 points, three rebounds and four assists, Nicholson contributed a career-best seven points and four rebounds off the bench, Kaylyn Krampe totaled seven rebounds, three assists and four steals and Wonders grabbed five boards and swiped two steals.

Warden scored four points off the bench. Reserves Dart, Johnston and Callie Cross finished with three rebounds, three rebounds and two rebounds, respectively.

The Bolts shot 37.5 percent from the floor, made 7-of-27 from 3 and drained 8-of-15 from the foul line. Baxter turned the ball over 20 times but swiped 22 steals and had 21 assists on 27 field goals.

Collins-Maxwell (0-7, 0-5) is 12-8 against Baxter since 2017, but the Bolts have won three straight by a combined score of 190-59.

Martensdale-St. Marys 49, Baxter 47

BAXTER — The Bolts pushed Martensdale-St. Marys to overtime and knocked the Blue Devils out of the rankings following a 49-47 non-conference home loss on Monday.

Baxter turned the ball over only seven times but was plagued by 20.3 percent shooting from the floor and 5-of-32 from 3. The Bolts lost by two and missed 11 free throws.

Parrie led the Bolts with 17 points, 11 rebounds and five steals to lead the way.

Kamdyn Krampe chipped in 16 points, six rebounds and two steals, Beals posted 10 points and six rebounds, Wonders grabbed eight boards and dished out two assists and Kaylyn Krampe totaled five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Brylea Nicholson

Johnston dished out three assists off the bench, and the Bolts forced the Blue Devils into 14 turnovers.

Rylie Fugate led Martensdale-St. Marys (7-2) with 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists and Marin Janke tallied 13 points and eight boards.

The Blue Devils shot 1-of-10 from 3 and made 10-of-16 from the foul line.
