The Newton boys basketball team led rival Pella by four after one quarter on Friday night.
But it was all Dutch from that point on. Pella takes an undefeated record into the holiday break after rallying past the Cardinals, 72-44, on the road in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
Newton led 15-11 after one, but Pella went into halftime with a five-point advantage. The Dutch outscored the Cardinals 19-12 in the third and 29-11 in the fourth.

It was Pella’s sixth straight win over the Cardinals, and the Dutch shot 51 percent from the floor.
Dawson Maki led the home team with 16 points. He also grabbed a career-best 10 rebounds and dished out two assists.
Grant Osby posted eight points, six rebounds and three blocks, Isaiah Slaughter contributed eight points, two rebounds and two assists and Karter Holmes put in seven points.
Josh Lampe grabbed the first three rebounds of his varsity career and Henry Allen scored the first three points of his after making a 3-pointer.

The Cardinals (2-4, 0-3 in the conference) shot 34 percent from the floor, made 4-of-13 from 3 and connected on 8-of-13 from the free-throw line.
Newton turned the ball over 18 times. Pella committed only six turnovers, swiped 13 steals and blocked six shots.
The Dutch (6-0, 2-0) were led by Austin Schulte’s 18 points and seven rebounds. Jack McGuire totaled a game-best 21 points and Harrison Mullens scored 13.
Pella made 6-of-18 from 3 and buried 14-of-20 from the foul line.
