Winters, Lindsay power PCM girls to home win over Grand View Christian

State-ranked Mustangs stay unbeaten in HOIAC play

MONROE — Libby Winters and Tori Lindsay combined for 43 points, Winters added 13 rebounds and the PCM girls basketball team continued its dominance over Grand View Christian on Tuesday.

The Mustangs also got 10 points from Kyra Naeve, and PCM pulled away from the Thunder with a big second half during a 68-56 home win.

PCM won the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference matchup after making 7-of-17 from 3-point range.

The Class 3A No. 8 Mustangs (7-1, 5-0 in the HOIAC) led 22-13 after one quarter. The Thunder closed their halftime gap to three after a 15-9 advantage in the second.

PCM outscored Grand View Christian (5-2, 3-2) 20-15 in the third and 17-13 in the fourth. The Mustangs are now 6-0 against the Thunder since 2018.

Winters totaled 23 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals and Lindsay chipped in 20 points, three rebounds, five assists and four steals. Lindsay was 4-of-9 from 3.

Naeve posted 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals, Kenna Grier scored eight points off the bench and Jorja Teeter contributed four points, four boards and three assists.

Lila Milani totaled three points, three assists and two steals and was the primary defender against Maiah Murphy, who was held to 12 points under her 21 points per game average.

PCM registered its sixth straight win after shooting 43 percent from the floor and 5-of-9 from the free-throw line. The Mustangs turned the ball over 12 times and swiped 13 steals.

Morgan Pelham led the Thunder with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Grand View Christian shot 47.5 percent from the floor, made 9-of-19 from 3 and buried 9-of-10 from the foul line.
