Class 3A No. 8 Mustangs win fifth straight, rout Greene County

JEFFERSON — Katelynn Fagg outscored Greene County by herself in the second half and her career-high 16 points led the PCM girls basketball team to a rout of the Rams on Friday.

The Mustangs started fast and held Greene County to single digits in all four quarters during a 65-21 road win in Heart of Iowa Activities action.

PCM led 22-7 after one quarter and won the second 18-7. The Mustangs outscored the Rams 25-7 in the second half.

Fagg scored 14 of her career-high 16 points in the second half. She was 4-of-4 from 3-point range in the final two frames and grabbed two rebounds to lead PCM.

Tori Lindsay totaled 15 points, three rebounds and three steals and Kyra Naeve scored 10 of her 11 in the first half and added six rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Kenna Grier finished with six points, four rebounds and two assists in her first career varsity start. Libby Winters registered four points, three rebounds and four assists, Lila Milani had seven points and three rebounds and Holly Wood posted four rebounds, four assists and three steals off the bench.

Camden Webb grabbed three boards off the bench and reserve Gabriella Greaves pulled down two rebounds and dished out two assists in her varsity debut.

The Mustangs (6-1, 4-0 in the conference) shot 45.5 percent from the floor, made 9-of-19 from 3 and connected on 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. PCM, which has won five straight games, turned the ball over 10 times.

Makenna Ebersole led the Rams (2-3, 1-2) with seven points. She was 3-of-6 from the foul line, and Greene County hit 6-of-12 as a team.

The Mustangs are 27-2 against the Rams since 2009, and they’ve won nine straight in the series.
