COLFAX — A slow start and 23 turnovers plagued the Colfax-Mingo boys basketball team during its season opener on Monday.
The Tigerhawks allowed 46 first-half points and never recovered during a 77-27 home loss to Woodward Academy.
Colfax-Mingo shot nearly 24 percent from the floor, missed all four 3-point attempts and connected on 7-of-12 from the free-throw line.

Jace Lewis scored nine points and Wyatt Jay and Izaiah Lewis each added six points and six rebounds to lead the Tigerhawks.
Camden Cunningham grabbed six rebounds, Weston Boehm had four points and two rebounds in his varsity debut and Gage Byal totaled two rebounds and three assists.
Wyatt Thornton corralled three boards, and Royal Collins also made his varsity debut.
The Knights (1-0) led 23-8 after one quarter and extended their lead to 46-15 at halftime. The Tigerhawks were limited to 12 second-half points.
Benny Doe led Woodward Academy with 17 points, nine assists and six steals.
Four Knights reached double figures, and the visitors shot 59 percent from the floor. They were 8-of-19 from 3 and turned the ball over 10 times.
