After taking the weekend to enjoy family and the Newton parade, the Iowa Nite Hawks are preparing for the SPFL playoffs.
Quarterback Fred Griggs made his first start and led the Nite Hawks to a 33-24 victory over the Midwest Raptors on June 28.
The game was close until the end. Griggs headlined the finish with a pick 6 and a 61-yard touchdown pass to Kevon Bickham.
“It was great going out showing the league how good we can be, and the scary part is we can play even better,” Griggs said. “I’m happy to be able to help the team and I’m looking forward to our next game.”
The win secured the second seed in the conference for the Nite Hawks (6-2), and they will welcome the Raptors back on Saturday for the first round of the playoffs. The game will be played at H.A Lynn Stadium in Newton.
