Woollums, Ross headline Newton girls on all-conference soccer squad

Two of the most experienced defensive players and the two top scorers for the season on the Newton girls soccer team were recognized on the Little Hawkeye Conference squad recently.

Senior Delaney Woollums and junior Aliviah Ross headline the Cardinals’ on the squad as both were named to the second team. Senior Alex Garvis and freshman Sophia Coady were honorable mention selections.

All-conference recognition is based on statistics inside conference play only.

Woollums started every match of her high school varsity soccer career. That number is 69, while Garvis started all 65 matches she played in.

Woollums and Garvis both started in all five conference matches and Ross started in four of the team’s league games.

Coady started in all five of the team’s conference matches and scored the only four goals the Cardinals’ had in LHC play. The four goals tied for eighth in the league and her eight points were 13th.
