High scoring Lane scores all-state soccer honor

Area trio earns academic all-state recognition

Colfax-Mingo freshman Meadow Lane ranked third in Class 1A in both goals and points this past season.

And her older sister Bianca Lane was the glue that kept the Tigerhawks’ offense together during the program’s first varsity season.

Colfax-Mingo finished 11-2-3 in its initial go round and Meadow Lane’s 44 goals, 102 points and 14 assists led the way. It earned her first team all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Alex Garvis

Meadow Lane and Bianca Lane also were 1A Central all-district players, while Newton’s Alex Garvis and Delaney Woollums and Baxter’s Rylee Van Beek were academic all-state.

Van Beek was one of three seniors on the C-M girls soccer squad.

Meadow Lane’s 44 goals and 102 points ranked third in 1A and her 14 assists tied for 10th.

She reached those numbers in only 15 matches and tied for first in 1A with five penalty kick goals. Her shot on goal percentage was 45.4.
