Cade Bauer is now batting .400 for the season, but the Newton baseball team dropped its seventh straight game after an 11-1 home loss to Dallas Center-Grimes in Little Hawkeye Conference play on Monday.
The Cardinals scored their only run in the first inning, but the Mustangs never trailed and posted crooked numbers in five of the seven innings. They went up 10 runs with a two-run seventh.

Newton had more errors (4) than hits (3). DCG registered its 10th straight win over the Cardinals.
Bauer had one hit, one run and one steal. His .400 batting average leads the team and he also has a team-best 10 runs and 20 total bases and he’s up to 10 steals.
Gabe Otto doubled and had one RBI, Kreytein Wickliffe also doubled and Derek Wermager walked once.
Creighton Andrew (0-2) started on the mound and took the loss. He surrendered seven runs — four earned — on four hits, five walks and one hit batter. He struck out one in three innings.

Dakota Winkleman and Carter Lehrman both tossed two innings of relief.
Winkleman allowed two earned runs on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts and Lehrman surrendered two runs — one earned — on one hit, two walks and one hit batter.
Cross Bandy led the Mustangs (8-4, 6-1 in the conference) with three hits and three RBIs at the plate and he earned the pitching win.
Tate Perrin also doubled, walked twice and scored two runs.
The Cardinals (3-11, 1-8) were out-hit 9-3, and the Mustangs only committed one error.
