Bozarth headlines trio of Newton boys on all-conference soccer teams

Newton senior Landon Bozarth started every match of his school soccer career and tied for eighth in assists in the Little Hawkeye Conference this past season.

The Cardinals most experienced player was named second team all-conference recently, while senior Javin Doland and junior Micah Mattes were honorable mention selections.

All-conference recognition is based on statistics inside conference play only.

There was only one player who did not play for DCG, Norwalk or Indianola who made first team all-conference.

Bozarth, who started all 76 matches of his prep varsity soccer career, led Newton with two assists, but the Cardinals scored only four goals in their six conference matches.

Doland, Newton’s goalie, started all six conference matches and led the LHC with 480 minutes in goal and had a league-best 77.2 save percentage among goalies who faced at least 60 shots on goal. His 78 saves also ranked second.

Mattes was one of the Cardinals’ defenders. He scored an all-conference honor for the first time in his career after starting in all six LHC matches.
