Newton senior Chloe Swank, left, signed with the Simpson College softball team on Wednesday. She was joined at her signing by her father Mark Swank, and chose the Storm over Graceland and William Penn. “When I walked in, everybody was friendly, the dorms were nice and the athletic facilities are nice,” Swank said. “(Head coach Brent) Matthias is absolutely amazing, too.” Swank said she likely will play third base or catcher at Simpson but is open to playing just about anywhere. “(Coach Matthias) told me I can play wherever, but those are the two positions I’ve played the most,” Swank said about catcher and third base. “I’d be comfortable at second and maybe can play right field, but it wouldn’t look the prettiest.” Swank plans to major in elementary education and joins Newton alums Peyton Ray and Bella Winther as Simpson College signees.
