SULLY — Dawson James was a double winner, Jaiden Richards won the 100-meter dash and opened the Hawks’ winning 4x100 relay team and the Lynnville-Sully boys track and field ended its regular season with a victory on its home turf.
The Hawks won the L-S Last Chance meet with 164 points. Pekin was the runner-up with 143.5 points, while East Marshall (100), Belle Plaine (97) and Colfax-Mingo (87.5) completed the top five.
The rest of the eight-team field featured Cardinal (53), North Mahaska (41) and GMG (35).

Colfax-Mingo took first in the distance medley relay and placed third in four other events.
It was the fourth meet championship of the season for Lynnville-Sully.
“We scored points in all 19 events again with a lot of guys contributing to that total,” L-S head boys track and field coach Darin Arkema said. “The guys did a great job taking care of themselves and being ready to compete.”
James won the shot put with a throw of 45 feet, 0 inches and placed first in the discus with a heave of 130-6.
Richards won the 100 in 11.78 seconds and Burt Johnson ran a career-best 12.4 and placed sixth.
Colton Alberts (4:58.27) and Blake Wilmesmeier (4:59.25) went 1-3 in the 1,600. The duo flip flopped in the 800 as Wilmesmeier (career-best 2:08.8) and Alberts (career-best 2:12.08) finished 2-4.

The Hawks went 2-4-5 in the 400 hurdles as Terran Gosselink (58.48) finished second, Sawyer Veldhuizen (1:01.51) was fourth and Michael Spooner (1:04.08) placed fifth.
Conner Deal finished second in the high jump with a leap of 5-10 and Ashton Rozendaal finished fifth in a career-best jump of 5-6.
Spooner placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 17-7 1/4, Veldhuizen (17.84) was fifth in the 110 highs, Deal (25.37) tied for fifth in the 200 and Hendrick Lowry (56.48) placed sixth in the 400.
Keegan Schnell posted a career-best time of 12:45.38 and took sixth in the 3,200.
The 4x100 relay team grabbed the gold medal in a season-best 45.44. That quartet included Richards, Jack Bowlin, Ethan Dunsbergen and Jace Johnson.
The Hawks also placed second in the 4x200, 4x800 and shuttle hurdle relays and took third in the 4x400 and distance medley relays.

Richards, Bowlin, Mintle and Jace Johnson teamed up again and finished second in the 4x200 in 1:39.82.
“(Richards) was flying across the track, winning the 100 and also leading off both the 4x200 and 4x100 to runner up and first-place finishes,” Arkema said. “The 4x100 had a season-best time by nearly 1 second en route to victory.”
Sam Terlouw, Trace Carlson, Evan Arkema and Madden Gunsaulus took second in the 4x800 relay in 9 minutes, 33.83 seconds.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Deal, Veldhuizen, Rozendaal and Gosselink finished second in a season-best and school-record 1:02.07.
Ethan Dunsbergen, Lowry, Jace Johnson and Gosselink teamed up to place third in the 4x400 with a time of 3:40.9 and Jordan Dunsbergen, Andrew Arkema, Carlson and Terlouw finished third in the distance medley relay in 4:09.84.
Colfax-Mingo’s distance medley relay team of Tony Buenrostro, Will Thornton, Chase Trotter and Sullivan Wilkins won the race in 3:51.77.
Colfax-Mingo was third in a trio of relays. Isaiah Baucom, Xavier Woods, Buenrostro and Trotter finished third in the sprint medley relay in 1:42.08 and then teamed up to place third in the 4x100 relay in 46.65.
Alexander Rodriguez-Briseno, Owen Ament, Joe Grimm and Kyle Wood grabbed the bronze in the 4x800 in 9:38.67.

The Tigerhawks’ lone runner-up finish came from Trotter in the 200. His silver-medal run was clocked in 24.07 and Fisher Grover (25.37) placed fifth. Grove also was fourth in the 100 in a career-best 12.34.
Wilkins (2:10.02) and Ament (2:19.29) finished 3-5 in the 800 and then the duo finished 4-6 in the 1,600. Wilkins was fourth in the mile in 5:05.87 and Ament was sixth in 5:19.8.
Woods (5-8) took fourth in the high jump and Mario Rodriguez placed fourth in the 3,200 in a career-best time of 12:12.82.
