WOODWARD — Ashlynn Hosbond claimed the Tigerhawks’ lone win, Trinity Smith was part of both third-place finishes and the Colfax-Mingo girls track and field team placed fifth at the Hawk Relays on Tuesday.
The Tigerhawks scored 39.5 points in fifth. They were better than West Central Valley (33), Des Moines Christian (19) and Glidden-Ralston (8) in the eight-team field.

Class 3A North Polk won the meet championship with 210 and 3A Winterset was second with 107.5. The rest of the top five included host Woodward-Granger (89) and Grand View Christian (75).
Hosbond’s win came in the 3,000-meter run. She won the race in a career-best time of 11 minutes, 25.61 seconds.
Smith finished third in the 400 hurdles in 1:16.66. She also led off the Tigerhawks’ shuttle relay team which placed third.
The team of Smith, Jessa Purdie, Lily Anderson and Evalyn Anderson grabbed the bronze medal in 1:17.87.
Colfax-Mingo doubled up in a pair of field events.
Claire Hunsberger finished fourth in the high jump with a career-best leap of 4 feet, 10 inches and Katelyn Steenhoek was fifth with a mark of 4-8.

Emma Cook (30-4) and Lexie Aller (30-1 1/2) went 5-6 in the shot put, Smith (14-2) placed eighth in the long jump, Lily Anderson was eighth in the 100 hurdles in a career-best 19.66 seconds and Karmylia Snyder finished eighth in the 200 in a career-best 30.17.
Tigerhawks finish sixth at West Marshall Coed Invitational
STATE CENTER — Hosbond ran to another win in the 3,000, the Tigerhawks scored double points in five events and Colfax-Mingo scored 73.5 points in sixth at the West Marshall Coed Invitational on Thursday.
Colfax-Mingo was better than Colo-NESCO (28) and Meskwaki Settlement School (23) but trailed meet champion East Marshall by 66 points.
East Marshall won the meet championship with 139.5 points. West Marshall (124), Lynnville-Sully (124), South Hamilton (112) and Baxter (88) completed the top five in the eight-team field.
Hosbond’s winning time in the 3,000 was clocked in 11:33.97 and Laila Kwaskiewicz was fifth in 13:36.15.
The Tigerhawks also doubled up in the 400 hurdles, high jump, shot put and discus.

Cook (season-best 31-4) and Aller (30-5) finished 3-5 in the shot put, Lily Arndt (74-6) and Cook (72-3) were 4-6 in the discus and Claire Hunsberger and Grace Hunsberger tied for fifth in the high jump with leaps of 4-6 1/4.
Smith placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 14-2 3/4 and she led a 5-6 finish in the 400 hurdles with Claire Hunsberger. Smith was fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:18.34 and Hunsberger took sixth in a career-best 1:30.36. Purdie came in sixth in the 100 hurdles in 18.33.
