Beyer, Hay lead L-S girls to golf win over HLV/TC

LYNNVILLE — Olivia Beyer and Jakeira Hay went 1-2 to lead the Lynnville-Sully girls golf team to a conference win over HLV/TC on April 28.

The Hawks shot 232 as a team and bettered their opponent by 15 strokes. The L-S boys fell to HLV/TC 185-225, but Carson Maston finished third overall at Diamond Trail Golf Club.

The L-S girls grabbed five of the top six spots. Beyer was the meet medalist with a 54, Hay shot a 59 in second and Penelope Robinson carded a 59, too. Three golfers shot 59 in the meet.

The final counting scorers for L-S were Audrey Kaldenberg (60) and Brooke Hardeman (60) and Hannah Parent (72) turned in a non-counting score.

Carson Maston’s 50 was good enough for third and the rest of the scoring golfers for the L-S boys were Blake Maston (56), Boston Agan (58) and River Miller (61). Max Morvant (63) and Ransom Scholten (67) posted non-counting scores.

HLV/TC’s Levi Molyneux was the meet medalist with a 40 and Peyton Roth was the runner-up medalist with a 42.

L-S girls finish second, boys take fourth at Oskaloosa

OSKALOOSA — The top four female golfers from L-S were separated by just two strokes during a road matchup at Oskaloosa Golf Course.

The L-S girls shot 232 in second and were better than Keota (238), Montezuma (241) and Belle Plaine (284) in the five-team field.

BGM won the tournament with a 208 and Aurelia Roudabush was the meet medalist with a 44. Keota’s Lainey Swanson shot a 45 as the runner-up medalist.

The L-S boys shot 223 in fourth. BGM won the meet with a 152, Keota shot 179 in second and Montezuma (195) and Belle Plaine (279) completed the field.

BGM also had the top two golfers in the field as Ethan Bridgewater shot a 35 as the medalist and Beckett Rhoads carded a 41 as the runner-up medalist.

Hardeman led the L-S girls with a 57 and the other counting scorers were Hay (58), Robinson (58) and Beyer (59). Lilly Fuchs (67) carded a non-counting score.

Carson Maston’s 48 led the L-S boys, while Morvant (57), Blake Maston (58), Agan (60) and Miller (60) had the other counting scores. Miller’s 60 was a career best and Scholten (67) had a non-counting score.

L-S boys finish sixth at Tiger Tourney

MARENGO — Carson Maston shot a 99 and the rest of the L-S boys made their 18-hole varsity debuts on April 25.

The Hawks shot 443 and finished sixth in the six-team field at Marengo Golf Club.

Keota won the tournament with a 324 and Brennan McGuire won medalist honors with a 73.

HLV/TC (351), Montezuma (378), Iowa Valley (380) and English Valleys (407) completed the field. English Valleys’ Gage Heyne was the runner-up medalist with a 76.

Blake Maston (108), Miller (111) and Agan (125) had the other counting scores, while Scholten (130) and Morvant (134) turned in non-counting scores.

Beyer leads L-S girls to second at home triangular

LYNNVILLE — Beyer’s career-best 52 earned her runner-up medalist honors and led the L-S girls to a second-place finish during a home triangular featuring a trio of South Iowa Cedar League programs on April 22.

North Mahaska won the meet with a 214 at Diamond Trail Golf Club. L-S was the runner-up with a 224 and Montezuma carded a 236 in third. North Mahaska’s Aly Steil was the medalist with a 49.

North Mahaska swept the day as the boys won the meet with a 164 and Lucas Nunnikhoven was the medalist with a 37. Jaxon Vander Veer turned in a 40 as the runner-up medalist.

Montezuma was second at 200 and L-S finished third at 226.

Beyer’s career-best 52 was second overall and the L-S girls also got a 56 from Hay, a 57 from Kaldenberg and 59s from both Hardeman and Robinson. Brynlee Farrell’s career-best 65 was a non-counting score.

Boston Agan

Blake Maston led the L-S boys with a 51. Agan (56), Morvant (59) and Miller (career-best 60) had the other counting scores and Scholten’s 62 was a non-counting score.

Sigourney sweeps LS golfers in SICL matchup

LYNNVILLE — Carson Maston turned in a 47, but Sigourney was just too good at Diamond Trail Golf Club on April 21.

The Savages swept the Hawks in a conference matchup. The L-S boys fell 150-218 and Sigourney won the girls matchup 214-231.

Carson Maston’s 47 led the way for the L-S boys, while Blake Maston (55), Agan (58) and Morvant (58) had the other counting scores. Miller (66) and Scholten (70) posted non-counting scores.

Sigourney’s Solon Yates was the meet medalist with a 34 and Ike Molyneux was the runner-up with a 38.

Hardeman led the L-S girls with a career-best 55. Beyer (56), Hay (58) and Robinson (62) posted the other counting scores.

Fuchs (66) and Kacey Kesling (76) had non-counting scores. The 66 from Fuchs was a career best and it was the varsity debut for Kesling.

Sigourney’s Ella Bruns was the meet medalist with a 52 and Addie Tremmel also carded a 52 as the runner-up.
