Newton senior Blake Schilling, seated center, will play football at the next level for Grand View University. He moves onto campus in Des Moines on Friday and starts fall camp on Saturday. Schilling chose the NAIA Vikings over NCAA Division III Central College. “I liked their winning culture, they have a good family atmosphere and they have good competition both on the team and with the teams they play,” Schilling said. Joining Schilling at his signing were his father Chad, seated left, mother Chris and his brothers (back row, from left) Reese and Gage Schilling. He plans to major in finance. Blake Schilling said he will room with Newton teammate Andrew Boothe at Grand View. They also likely will face each other in practice. “It will be good. We will be going against each other in practice,” Schilling said. “He’s going to play guard or center it sounds like and I will be a defensive tackle. I love that.
