Class 2A No. 5 Norwalk too much for Newton girls soccer

NORWALK — Natalee Freese made a career-high 26 saves, but the Newton girls soccer team couldn’t keep up with Class 2A No. 5 Norwalk on Friday.

The Warriors snapped the Cardinals’ five-match win streak after a 7-0 home win during Little Hawkeye Conference action.

It was Norwalk’s sixth straight win over Newton (7-3, 1-2 in the conference) and the Warriors’ fifth shutout victory this spring.

Norwalk (5-3, 2-1) led 3-0 at halftime and added to its lead with four goals in the second half.
