Newton’s Sharp makes it official with Graceland University
Cardinal senior will run track and field and cross country for the Yellowjackets

Newton senior Cameron Sharp, center, signed with Graceland University for track and field and cross country on Friday. "My brother goes there, and I really like the campus," Sharp said. "He likes the community and that it's very inclusive. I'm excited." Sharp chose the Yellowjackets over Clarke University. She also considered attending school at Iowa, Iowa State and Central College. Sharp was on the track and field team for four years and joined the cross country squad as a junior. She transitioned from a sprinter to a distance runner that season, too. "We don't force that change. She wanted to change it and has been coachable the entire way," Newton head girls track and field coach and head girls cross country coach Rachelle Tipton said. "They are going to get someone who wants to keep improving. She will always do her best." Sharp was joined at her signing by her parents Joe and Erin Sharp.
