Newton girls post third 2-0 win of the season

Cardinals score once in each half against host Ballard

HUXLEY — The Newton girls soccer team won its third 2-0 contest this spring on Thursday.

The Cardinals scored a goal in each half and posted their third shutout victory of the season during a 2-0 non-conference triumph over host Ballard.

Aliviah Ross scored her third goal of the season and Haylie Milheiser put in the first goal of her career, too.

The Cardinals took 14 shots and Natalee Freese made three saves.

Newton (3-2) has six goals in its three wins and just one goal in the two losses.

Ballard dropped to 0-3. The Bombers have yet to score a goal this season.
