BELLE PLAINE — The Lynnville-Sully girls’ basketball team’s fourth straight win featured a fast start, 10 made 3-pointers and a strong effort on the glass.
The Class 1A No. 11 Hawks got a career night from Alaina Roberts, freshman Ava Brummel grabbed 10 rebounds and L-S was 10-of-22 from deep during a 53-22 road win over Belle Plaine on Thursday.
Lynnville-Sully led the South Iowa Cedar League game 14-1 after one quarter and outscored the Lady Plainsmen 22-11 in the second half.
“We played much better in the second half,” L-S head girls’ basketball coach Jerry Hulsing said. “Our energy was better and we moved the ball quicker, which led to some good rhythm shots that we missed in the first half but made in the second half. It also made our defense better.”
