MONTEZUMA — A slow start and 32 turnovers plagued the Colfax-Mingo girls’ basketball team during a loss to Montezuma on Friday.
The Tigerhawks posted a season high in points but couldn’t slow down the Bravettes during a 56-16 road loss in South Iowa Cedar League action.
Montezuma led 24-5 after one quarter and coasted from there. Colfax-Mingo won the fourth 4-2.
Dakota Allen led the Tigerhawks with five points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals and Mallory Sipma added three points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Brooklyn Yankse put in four points and Victoria Woods grabbed four boards.
The Tigerhawks (0-6, 0-4 in the SICL) shot 27 percent from the floor, did not make a 3-pointer and connected on 2-of-3 from the free-throw line.

Montezuma was led by Ellen Cook’s 17 points, five assists and seven steals. Shiressa Wetering added a game-high 18 points.
The Bravettes (4-2, 2-2) shot 33 percent from the floor, made 6-of-34 from 3 and connected on 8-of-10 from the foul line. The hosts only committed four turnovers.
Southeast Warren 48, Colfax-Mingo 14
LIBERTY CENTER — Woods grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds and the Tigerhawks trailed by only five after one, but Southeast Warren extended its lead in every quarter during a 48-14 non-conference home win.
Dakota Allen added four points and three boards, Sipma tallied five rebounds and two assists and Grace Allen and Katelyn Steenhoek each pulled down four rebounds. Woods also swiped two steals.
Colfax-Mingo shot 21.4 percent from the floor, went 0-of-6 from 3 and hit 2-of-10 from the foul line. The Tigerhawks were out-rebounded 36-31 and they turned the ball over 39 times.
Lexi Clendenen led the Warhawks with 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals, while Jessica Lillig scored a game-high 16 points.
Southeast Warren (3-4) shot 31 percent from the floor, buried 2-of-9 from 3 and hit 8-of-19 from the foul line. The Warhawks committed 15 turnovers.
