C-M wrestlers can’t find win column at Perry

McGill, Fitch lead Tigerhawks in road quadrangular

PERRY — John McGill and Cason Fitch won all three of their matches during a road quadrangular on Tuesday, but the Colfax-Mingo wrestling team couldn’t find the win column.

The Tigerhawks lost to Ogden 54-28, fell to Woodward-Granger 46-13 and couldn’t keep up with the host Bluejays in a 60-12 defeat.

McGill, who is ranked second at 165 pounds in Class 1A, was 3-0 for the day with one pin and two major decisions. Fitch was 3-0 at 120 with one pin.

McGill’s pin was the 83rd of his career, which set a new school record. The previous record of 82 was held by Brad Cratty and Michael Bucklin.

Against Ogden, Isaiah Baucom scored a pin in 50 seconds at 175, McGill (8-1) won his match 16-3 at 165 and Fitch, Donnie Baucom (215) and Teagen Dybevik (285) all took forfeits.

Ogden was 4-2 in contested matches and had a 5-3 advantage in forfeits.

The only three wins in the Woodward-Granger dual came from McGill, Fitch and Jacob Riddle. Fitch won 2-0, McGill dominated 14-4 and Riddle scored a win by fall in 1:24.

W-G was 6-3 in contested matches, accepted the only two forfeits of the match and there were three double forfeits.

Fitch (8-1) and McGill scored pins in 1:37 during their matches against Perry. Those were the only two wins in the dual as C-M went 2-7 in contested matches and surrendered three forfeits to the hosts. There were two double forfeits.
