NEVADA — PCM’s football team struck first on a long touchdown pass play, but Nevada scored 27 straight points and downed the Mustangs at home 27-7 on Friday night.
The Mustangs led 7-0 after one quarter following a 76-yard touchdown pass play from Gavin Van Gorp to Jacob Wendt.
But the Class 3A No. 3 Cubs rushed for 280 yards and outscored PCM 19-0 in the second.
The Mustangs dropped to 1-2 on the season but all three games came against ranked teams.
Van Gorp finished 11-of-19 through the air for 214 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Adrien Robbins rushed for 86 yards on 22 carries and had 41 yards on three catches. Evan Jones also gained 61 yards on 10 carries.
The 76-yard TD catch was Wendt’s only grab of the day, Griffin Olson hauled in three passes for 46 yards and Gabe Hobbs grabbed three passes for 32 yards. Jack Jungling’s lone catch went for 19 yards.
Finn Wilson led the PCM defense with seven tackles. Justin Johnston and Olson had five tackles each, Brevin DeRaad and Braedyn Lester each contributed 4.5 tackles and Trenner Van Dyke had four tackles.
Robbins and Gavin DeRaad registered three tackles, Lester recovered a fumble and Riley Graber snagged an interception.
Nevada (3-0) got 127 passing yards, 48 rushing yards and three passing touchdowns from Connor King and Cason Stevenson rushed for 218 yards and a TD.

Jacob Khounsourath grabbed four passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns.
Jackson Burlage and Anthony Eaton had 11 and 10 tackles, respectively, to lead the Cubs’ defense.
