OTTUMWA — Addie Schroeder and Owen Ament led the Colfax-Mingo cross country teams during their season opener at the Pekin Invitational at Wildwood Park on Thursday.
Schroeder was the lone Tigerhawk in the top 15 and Shae Wilkins finished in the top 30, but the C-M girls finished ninth in the nine-team field.
On the boys’ side, the Tigerhawks were short-handed and ended up 10th in the 11-team field.
The top 50 finishers in each varsity race earned medals.

The C-M girls scored 183 points in ninth despite Schroeder placing 14th and Wilkins coming in 28th.
Class 1A No. 8 Pekin won the girls’ team title with 56 points, while Ottumwa (79), English Valleys (88), Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (104) and Fairfield (124) completed the top five.
The rest of the nine-team field featured Mediapolis (128), Montezuma (153) and Danville (157).
Cardinal, North Mahaska, Van Buren and Sigourney did not have enough runners for a team score.
Schroeder’s varsity debut finish was clocked in 22 minutes, 46.39 seconds. Wilkins finished her 5K in 23:54.1.
Rachael Uecker (26:33.54) was 56th, Devan Chadwick (26:49.43) took 59th and Lilyan Hadsall (29:57.69) completed the scoring runners in 75th.
Claire Hunsberger (30:21.98) and Bianca Lane (32:00.31) were non-scoring runners in 79th and 84th, respectively. Evalyn Anderson placed 89th with a time of 33:23.8.
Class 1A No. 23 Chloe Glosser of Pekin won the girls’ race in 18:55.59. Ottumwa’s Jasmine Luedtke was the runner-up in 20:31.54.
The C-M boys had only five runners. The Tigerhawks scored 254 points in 10th.
Class 2A No. 5 Mediapolis won the boys’ meet with 44 points. Pekin (78), 1A No. 12 Danville (102), Ottumwa (105) and Van Buren (124) completed the top five.

The rest of the field featured Fairfield (131), North Mahaska (160), Montezuma (208), Cardinal (245) and EBF (267). Sigourney did not have enough runners for a team score.
Ament led the Tigerhawks in 33rd with a time of 19:56.55. Xavier Woods finished 50th in 20:55.8.
Austin Lane (21:10.36), John McGill (21:43.55) and Asher Knutson (31:25.76) were 54th, 62nd and 98th, respectively.
Class 2A No. 3 Soloman Zaugg of Mediapolis won the boys’ race in 15:55. His teammate and 2A No. 8 Owen Schmidgall was the runner-up in 15:56.1.
