LYNNVILLE — A season-best score on a familiar golf course was not enough for the Colfax-Mingo girls’ golf team on Wednesday.
The Tigerhawks shot 424 at the par 72 Diamond Trail Golf Club but finished fifth in the eight-team standings.
The top two teams and top six individuals advance to the Class 1A state tournament.
Colfax-Mingo’s best finisher was freshman Lily Brenner in 12th. She shot a 99 with nine-hole splits of 50-49. The final qualifying score was a 92.
Grundy Center won the regional championship with a 350. BCLUW also advanced to state as the runner-up. The Comets turned in a 365. No other team shot fewer than 400.

Woodward-Granger (409), Pleasantville (417), Colfax-Mingo (424), Nodaway Valley (428), Mount Ayr (432) and Martensdale-St. Marys (439) completed the field.
Finishing after Brenner for Colfax-Mingo was junior Charlotte Donahue. She finished 16th with a 102. Senior Holland Robinette turned in a 106 and sophomore Madison Stackhouse shot 117 as the final counting score. Senior Caylee Cunningham (119) had a non-counting score.
Grundy Center’s Abbie Lindeman was the meet medalist with a 73 and BCLUW’s Brookynn Backoff was the runner-up medalist with an 84.
The Spartans grabbed positions 1-3-7-9 and BCLUW had spots 2-4-5. The only other team to advance a golfer to state was Woodward-Granger as Lindsay Mescher C posted a 92 in sixth.
