Boone edges Newton girls in double overtime

Briana Shannon scored her 11th goal of the season, but the Newton girls’ soccer team lost, 2-1, to Boone in double overtime at H.A. Lynn Stadium on May 12.

Both teams scored one goal in the first half. The Toreadors improved to 6-8 after a goal in the second overtime.

Aliviah Ross tallied an assist for the Cardinals, who fell to 6-9-1 this spring. It was the regular season finale for Newton.

Natalee Freese tallied 12 saves. She now has 184 saves this season, which ranks sixth in Class 2A.

Brenna Vote and Hannah Chestnut each scored one goal for Boone.
