STATE CENTER — Logan Rainsbarger won an individual event and was part of another victory for the Baxter boys’ track and field team during the West Marshall High School Coed invitational on April 27.
The Bolts registered five wins in all, claimed 13 top-three finishes and scored 141 points in second place. They trailed host and meet champion West Marshall by seven points.
Lynnville-Sully (134) was third and the rest of the eight-team field included Colo-NESCO (90), East Marshall (84), South Tama County (76), Colfax-Mingo (30) and Meskwaki Settlement School (13).
Two of the Hawks three wins came in relays and Conner Maston won the 200-meter dash to lead L-S. Colfax-Mingo got a third-place performance from Ben Keeney that led the Tigerhawks.

The Bolts were 1-2 in the 800 with Cody Damman (2:11.55) edging teammate Matt Richardson (2:11.76) at the line. Cody Samson (2:19.52) had the sixth-best time in the event, but teams are only allowed to score two at the varsity level.
Rainsbarger and Trice Clapper grabbed the other individual wins.
Rainsbarger’s winning time in the 110 high hurdles was clocked in 16.09 seconds. He also finished third in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 8 1/2 inches.
Clapper won the shot put with a toss of 48-10 and Jake Travis placed fourth with a heave of 39-11. Clapper also was fifth in the discus with a throw of 109-4 1/2.

Richardson was the runner-up in the 3,200 with a time of 10 minutes, 36.99 seconds and he placed fifth in the 1,600 in 5:06.87.
Treyton Travis finished third in the high jump with a mark of 5-8. He also placed sixth in the 100 (12.59).
The Bolts scored double points in the 200 and 400. Cade Robinson (24.91) was fourth in the 200 and James Esqueda (25.91) finished sixth. In the 400, Logan Jones (56.05) took third and Esqueda (56.76) was fifth.
Perrin Sulzle also grabbed a sixth-place finish in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.62.
The Bolts won the 4x100 and sprint medley relays. In the 4x100, the team of Robinson, Carson Scroggins, Jake Travis and Cainan Travis had a winning time of 46.08 seconds. Robinson, Treyton Travis, Rainsbarger and Scroggins won the sprint medley relay in 1:39.60.

Baxter finished second in the 4x400 and distance medley relays and third in the 4x800.
The distance medley relay team featured Ashton Kerwin, Treyton Travis, Cainan Travis and Sulzle and they finished in 3:55.52.
The 4x400 relay team of Robinson, Rainsbarger, Cainan Travis and Scroggins hit the finish line in 3:39.33 and Sulzle, Samson, Jones and Damman stopped the clock in the 4x800 relay in 8:49.24.
Lynnville-Sully’s three wins came from Maston in the 200 and the 4x400 and distance medley relays.
The distance medley team featured Kyle Squires, Bryce Richards, Maston and Hendrick Lowry and they finished in 3:49.39. Caleb Rea, Richards, Gentry Walston and Maston won the 4x400 relay in 3:36.6.

The 4x200 relay team also was second. That group included Valentijn Niet, Isaac Ver Ploeg, Jaiden Richards and Mitchell Miller and they finished in 1:43.18.
The Hawks doubled up in the 200 and long jump.
Maston won the 200 in 23.05 seconds and Bryce Richards was third in 24.87.
Jack Bowlin (18-3) and Kendric Johnson (16-3) went 2-5 in the long jump, and Ethan Dunsbergen’s leap of 15-11 1/2 was the sixth-best jump, but it resulted in no team points.
Rea finished second in the high jump (5-8) and third in the 100 (12.3), Terran Gosselink (2:13.99) placed third in the 800, Lowry (4:58.15) finished third in the 1,600 and Zach Morningstar (11:38.2) was fourth in the 3,200.

Squires’ throw of 40-5 in the shot put netted him a third-place finish, while Ver Ploeg (111-2) was fourth in the discus, Walston (1:01.12) placed fifth in the 400 hurdles, Austin Larson (18.11) finished sixth in the 110 high hurdles and Bowlin (57.53) ended up sixth in the 400.
Colfax-Mingo was led by Keeney in the discus. He placed third with a toss of 111-3. Xavier Woods wound up fourth in both the high jump (5-6) and 400 hurdles (1:01.02).
