Buswell, Selover guide Baxter girls to runner-up finish at EBF

Two wins, six second-place finishes highlight Bolts night in Eddyville

EDDYVILLE — Bree Buswell won the two individual hurdle events, Mandee Selover grabbed three silver medals and set a new school record and the Baxter girls’ track and field team placed second in the small-school division of the EBF Girls Invitational Relays on Thursday.

Baxter scored 110 points in second. Lynnville-Sully won the team title with 186 points. The rest of the eight-team field included Ankeny Christian Academy (81), Twin Cedars (46), HLV (40) and JV teams from PCM (8), Albia and EBF.

Buswell collected both Baxter wins. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.96 seconds and then ran to a win in the 400 hurdles in 1 minute, 18.76 seconds.

The Bolts placed second six times. Selover registered three of them. She was second in the 100 (13.77), 200 (29.6) and the long jump (14 feet, 9 inches).

Selover’s third-place finish in the 400 resulted in a school-record time of 1:06.42.

The Bolts registered double points in the 800 as Regan Russell (2:48.04) finished second and Emie Tuhn (3:01.25) was fifth.

Zoey Gliem took third in the 3,000 with a time of 13:01.44 and Abby McReynolds finished third in the high jump with a leap of 4-2. Grace Anderegg was third in the long jump with a mark of 13-5 1/2.

Adison Bonney registered a pair of fifth-place finishes. She was fifth in both the shot put (23-2 1/2) and discus (70-6). Anderegg was fifth was in the 100 hurdles with a time of 21.87.

The Bolts were second in both the 4x800 and distance medley relays. The 4x800 team included Russell, Caydence Sulzle, Tuhn and Morgan Ratliff and they finished in 11:37.51. The distance medley relay featured Anderegg, Sulzle, Ratliff and Gliem and they were second in 5:13.22.

The 4x400 relay team of Anderegg, Russell, Ratliff and Gliem placed third in 5:06.51.
