McGill gets 100th win as C-M wrestlers down BGM, Montezuma

Tigerhawks fall to Pleasantville in road quadrangular

BROOKLYN — John McGill claimed his 100th career win, seven Tigerhawks won at least two matches and Colfax-Mingo’s wrestling team downed BGM and Montezuma during a road quadrangular on Thursday.

McGill and Cason Fitch each went 3-0 for the night, but Colfax-Mingo ended up 6-12 in contested matches.

The Tigerhawks downed BGM 48-23 and defeated Montezuma 48-24 but lost 62-18 to Pleasantville.

Against BGM, Colfax-Mingo accepted five forfeits and it was 3-3 in contested matches. There were two double forfeits and BGM accepted one forfeit.

The contested wins came from Jermaine Cross (285), Fitch (120) and Seth Brant (145), who all won by fall. Fitch’s pin came in 41 seconds. Josue Rodriguez (113), Tate Carlson (152), McGill (160), Isaiah Baucom (170) and Austin Lane (182) all won by forfeit.

Colfax-Mingo had an 8-2 advantage in forfeit wins against the Braves, but Montezuma won both contested matches. There were two double forfeits.

The forfeits were collected by Cross, Rodriguez, Fitch, Brant, Carlson, McGill, Cesar Buenrostro (126) and Sullivan Wilkins (132).

The three contested wins against Pleasantville came from Fitch, McGill and Lane. They all won by fall with Lane winning in 35 seconds and McGill scored his pin and 100th win in 1 minute, 12 seconds.

Pleasantville accepted four forfeits and was 7-3 in contested matches.

McGill (27-4) and Fitch (23-6) were 3-0 on the night. Fitch had two pins and McGill accepted two forfeits. McGill is now 104-18 in his career.

Cross, Brant and Lane (16-8) all were 2-1, while Rodriguez and Carlson each won twice by forfeit.
