Baxter girls dominate Meskwaki Settlement to stay unbeaten

Bolts crush Warriors on boards and swipe 23 steals in home win

BAXTER — The Baxter girls basketball team held Meskwaki Settlement School scoreless after one quarter, dominated the Warriors on the boards and cruised to a 64-11 home win during Iowa Star Conference South Division play on Tuesday.

The Bolts have outscored their last two opponents 122-20 and are now 5-0 this season.

Baxter led 15-0 after one quarter, pushed the advantage to 40-7 at halftime and outscored the Warriors 24-4 in the second half.

Emie Tuhn scored a game-high 21 points and added three rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Mandee Selover registered 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and five steals and Abbie Meyer collected 10 points, eight boards, three assists and two steals.

Emma Ziesman tallied six points, seven rebounds, two assists and four steals and Bree Buswell finished with five points, four rebounds, three assists and six steals.

Kendyl Stevenson added three points, three assists and three steals off the bench and reserve Karlee Koehler put in three points.

The Bolts (4-0 in conference play) shot 41 percent from the floor, 5-of-27 from 3-point range and 5-of-12 from the free-throw line.

They out-rebounded Meskwaki Settlement 31-10, swiped 23 steals and turned it over 14 times.

The Warriors (0-7 overall, 0-5 in the conference) shot 25 percent from the floor and committed 34 turnovers.
