Newton’s volleyball team brings back most of its 2022 varsity roster next season.
The Cardinals ended a long losing streak inside the Little Hawkeye Conference this fall and hope to take an even bigger jump next season.
The squad will welcome back three players who earned all-conference recognition this season.
Junior Kadance Ahn was named to the LHC first team and sophomores Chloe Swank and Delaney Woollums both were honorable mention selections.

The Cardinals tied Grinnell at 1-6 in the conference, but Newton won the head-to-head matchup on the Tigers’ home floor.
All-conference selections are based on statistics inside LHC play only.
Ahn ranked third in the LHC with 102 kills and was second on the team in both digs and aces with 79 and eight, respectively. She tallied six blocks and had a serve percentage of 84. The 79 digs ranked 10th in the conference.
The Cardinals’ best hitter ranked second in the LHC in kills per set at 4.3. She ranked 10th in the league with a digs per set of 3.3 and was fifth with a kill efficiency of .152.
Swank led the Cardinals with 86 digs and nine aces and also had three kills from her libero position. The 86 digs ranked seventh in the conference.
Her 3.6 digs per set ranked sixth in the LHC and her 97.4 serve percentage was third in the conference among players with at least 50 serves. She was 75-of-77 overall in serves.

Woollums ranked second on the team with 42 kills and added 39 digs and five aces. Her 96.9 serve percentage was second on the team and fifth in the LHC. She was 63-of-65 overall in serves.
Woollums had a kill efficiency of .171 and registered 1.8 kills and 1.6 digs per set.
