C-M baseball wins high-scoring affair with North Mahaska

Tigerhawks fall to Belle Plaine in SICL play

COLFAX — Cole Bracewell homered and got the win on the mound, Colfax-Mingo’s baseball team rallied from an early deficit and the Tigerhawks won a high-scoring home contest with North Mahaska during a South Iowa Cedar League game on June 13.

The two teams were tied at 8-all after three innings, but Colfax-Mingo plated five in the fourth and ended the game early with a seven-run sixth during a 20-10 home victory.

The Tigerhawks collected 18 hits and took advantage of North Mahaska’s six errors. Eight C-M players registered at least one hit.

Cole Bracewell led the offense with four hits, a home run, three runs, four RBIs and one walk.

He pitched in relief on the mound and got the win after allowing two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts, four walks and one hit batter in 2 1/3 innings pitched.

Cael Bracewell started on the mound and surrendered eight earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and five walks in 2 2/3 innings. Colton Edwards pitched one inning and struck out two.

Cael Bracewell and Joe Earles each had three hits at the plate. Cael Bracewell added three runs, three RBIs, two walks and two steals and Earles chipped in three runs, two RBIs, two walks and one steal.

Edwards, Will Zook and Konner Dalton all had two hits. Zook registered two RBIs and two walks, Edwards scored one run, had three RBIs and drew two walks and Dalton scored one run.

Donovan Baucom had one hit, four runs, three walks and one steal, Colton Lind doubled, scored one run and had two walks and Nathan Sloan scored one run, walked three times, had two RBIs and stole one base.

Kaden Dalton scored three runs and swiped one base. The Tigerhawks (4-9 overall, 3-8 in the SICL) tallied 18 hits and 17 walks.

Sam Terpstra and Nash Smith both homered for North Mahaska. The Warhawks (11-6, 8-4) used five pitchers in the SICL contest.

Belle Plaine 5, Colfax-Mingo 1

COLFAX — Belle Plaine broke open a tie game with a three-run second inning during a 5-1 conference win over Colfax-Mingo on Wednesday.

Both teams had four hits, but Belle Plaine’s Keaton Parrott struck out 11 Tigerhawks on the mound.

Earles led the C-M offense with two hits, one RBI and one steal. Konner Dalton tallied one hit and one walk, Edwards registered one walk, Cael Bracewell had one walk, one run and one steal and Baucom walked once.

Earles pitched six innings and took the loss after allowing four runs — zero earned — on seven hits. He struck out five, walked three and hit one batter.

Edwards allowed one unearned run and one hit in one inning. He struck out one and walked one.

Parrott earned the win on the mound for Belle Plaine (4-8, 3-7) after allowing no earned runs in seven innings.

Collins-Maxwell 14, Colfax-Mingo 4, 5 innings

COLLINS — A fast start propelled Collins-Maxwell to a five-inning win over Colfax-Mingo during a non-conference game on Thursday.

The Spartans scored three in the first, three in the second and six in the fourth and won 14-4.

The Tigerhawks lost the game despite collecting nine hits. The Spartans had 14 hits and just one error.

Cole Bracewell had two hits, two RBIs and one run to lead the offense, while Edwards registered two hits and one RBI.

Cael Bracewell, Lind, Sloan, Baucom and Zook all had one hit.

Cael Bracewell doubled, scored one run, walked once and stole one base, Lind had one hit, one walk and one steal and Baucom added one hit and one RBI.

Zook’s hit was a double and Konner Dalton scored one run.

Edwards started on the mound and took the loss after allowing six earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter in two innings.

Baucom pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed seven earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout, one walk and one hit batter. Zook pitched 1/3 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits.
