L-S boys golf takes second in home triangular

Hawks shoot season-best score at Diamond Trail Golf Club

LYNNVILLE — Lynnville-Sully’s boys golf team shot a season-best nine-hole round and two Hawks carded career-best scores during a boys triangular at Diamond Trail Golf Club on Thursday.

The Hawks’ season-best 184 was not enough though as Iowa Valley had the top two finishers and shot a 163 to win. Tri-County finished third with a 224.

“We saw some guys step up and show that they can contribute good scores,” L-S golf coach Jeff Knouse said. “We’re getting closer and closer to the postseason, and I think we’re trending in the right direction.”

Keota’s Sawyer Stout was the meet medalist with a 3-over-par 39.

Keota’s Billie Kindred and Lynnville-Sully’s Keegan DeWitt both shot 40, but Kindred was the runner-up medalist after a card back.

Carter Brand finished sixth overall with a career-best 45, Lucas Sieck was ninth with a 49 and Carson Maston shot a career-best 50 to finish 10th.

Max Mintle (52) and Deven Liekweg (53) turned in non-counting scores.
