Mace-Maynard leads impressive Cardinal debut at Dickinson Relays

PCM’s Anderson leads Mustangs at annual indoor meet

CEDAR FALLS — Jackson Mace-Maynard is primed for a big senior season for Newton’s boys track and field team.

And it took Mace-Maynard all of one meet to qualify for the Drake Relays in April.

The Cardinal senior set a new school record in the 3,200-meter run on Tuesday and his time of 9 minutes, 23.37 seconds also was under the Drake Relays Blue Standard time.

His victory in the race highlighted a strong showing at the annual boys Dickinson Relays inside the UNI-Dome.

The Cardinals’ day included six top-15 performances and four that were inside the first 10 positions.

Mace-Maynard came in more than 11 seconds faster than the Drake Relays Blue Standard time in the 3,200. He was an individual Drake Relays qualifier in the 800 last season.
